The HKIAA has installed an advanced flight simulator to provide participants with a realistic simulation of flight experience, and it is now available to professional pilots for practices of cockpit procedures.
Modelled on a twin-engine airliner cockpit of 1:1 measured dimension, the simulator is equipped with full-function control knobs on the glare shield and touch-screen switches on the main instrument and pedestal panel, all capable of operation of different flight modes and most aircraft systems. Faults and malfunctions can be generated or pre-programmed during different phases of the exercise. Various weather conditions can be projected onto the wide-scope super HD screens to create realistic visual effects with synchronised geographical positions. In addition to auto-pilot, manual flying is practicable by side-stick and rudder pedal around three axes.
Assisting the participants to generate or load pre-programmed visual effects of various weather conditions, system malfunctions and selected abnormal / emergency scenarios.
